Flanders Festival Bruges organizes every year the famous International Contests "Musica Antiqua". This year the competition for traverso, baroque violin, baroque cello and viola da gamba takes place between 6th and 13th of August 2011, and for the first time EUBO Development Trust offers a prize for the most promising young European musician of the competition. EUBO 2011 will start rehearsing on Tuesday 19 July in Echternach, Luxembourg. The programme on this tour is titled ‘Bach and Sons’ offering an unique possibility to get familiar with the musical differences between “father” Johann Sebastian Bach and the generation that came after him. The first concert is on 28 July in SS Pierre-et-Paul in Echternach. From Luxembourg the tour will continue to Portugal, Italy and Ireland. A list of the members of EUBO 2011 can be found here. ****************************************************************************** The European Commission has announced that it is to renew its agreement with EUBO for the next three years, 2011-2013. EUBO is an official Cultural Ambassador for the European Union. ****************************************************************************** In 2011 EUBO will have a residency for the first time at Collegio Ghislieri, Pavia, Italy. August 2010 ****************************************************************************** On 22 May 2010, EUBO performed at the Lufthansa Festival for Baroque Music in London, with 50 former members of the orchestra, to recreate the atmosphere of Corelli's concerts in Rome at the beginning of the 18th century. The musicians are now preparing their last concerts for this year: under the direction of Edward Higginbottom and with New College Choir Oxford, they will give a series of performances of Handel's Messiah. This last tour will bring the orchestra to Oxford-UK, Echternach-Luxembourg, Darmstadt-Germany, Riga-Latvia and Burgos, Pamplona and Logrono in Spain. 4 December 2009 ****************************************************************************** After another successful tour under the direction of Lars Ulrik Mortensen, and with Swedish soprano Anna Jobrant, which brought the young EUBO-musicians to Luxembourg, Germany, Hungary and UK (to read press reviews, click here), the orchestra will go on tour again very soon. EUBO will be directed for the first time by one of the two directors of Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, violinist Petra Müllejans. After a short residency at Kloster Michaelstein in Blankenburg, Germany, the orchestra will perform in Germany, Portugal and Bulgaria. To see all the dates, click here. 6 November 2009 ****************************************************************************** First tour EUBO 2009 and Edinburgh International Festival The new members of EUBO had a successful first tour, performing in Luxembourg, Slovenia (where the president of the Republic, Danilo Türk attended the concert), Italy, Germany and France. The next performances will take place at the International Festival in Edinburgh on 25th August under the direction of Chiara Banchini, and on 26th August under the direction of Lars Ulrik Mortensen and with Soprano Maria Keohane. For the concert on 25th August, 60 musicians have been invited from the most recent EUBO generations to recreate the atmosphere of Corelli’s performances in Rome at the beginning of the 18th century.
