EUBO makes its 50th country debut
'EUBO 2005' has just completed its 2005 tours (Tours 2005) with performances in Germany and Estonia, which were highly acclaimed by public and critics alike. Please look at the reviews (in German) from the concert in Bielefeld.
The concert in Podgorica in July was particularly special - it was the first time that the Orchestra had performed in Serbia and Montenegro, and becomes the 50th different country in which the Orchestra has performed. Is this an orchestral record?

October - November tour 2004 : Prize-winning Soprano
Soprano Iwona Sobotka, first laureate of the 2004 Queen Elisabeth Competition of Belgium, joined EUBO for its third tour for performances and a CD recording of a Handel cantata Ero e Leandro. The young Polish soprano took first prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium in May and as a consequence was invited to tour with the European Union Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Lars Ulrik Mortensen. She began her singing studies in her native town of Mlawa, and continued at the Chopin Academy in Warsaw. In 2003 she moved to Madrid, where she currently works with Tom Krause. During her studies she was the recipient of a special award from the Polish soprano Zdzislawa Donat at a competition in Lodz. In her home country, Iwona has won many competitions and prizes including the Polish Song Competition in Warsaw in 2001, the International Ada Sari in Nowy Sazcz and at the Paderewski Competition in Bydgoszcz in 2003. Further afield, she has won prizes in Barcelona (International Singing Competition Francisco Viñas 2003) and at the 22nd International Belvedere Competition in Vienna. Her triumph at the 2003 East & West Artists International Auditions in New York City resulted in an invitation to make her recital debut at the Carnegie Hall in April 2005.
Iwona's collaboration with EUBO and Lars Ulrik Mortensen will be featured on a recording they made together in November at St Truiden in Belgium of Handel's Cantata 'Ero e Leandro'.
